Ukraine

History

During the summer of 2009 several folks from Calvary Fluvanna went to Ukraine on a mission trip with USNOF (Ukraine Special Needs Orphans Fund).  On that trip we met the pastor and some others from Calvary Chapel Kyiv and sensed that God was leading us to partner with them on some of their ministry projects.

Oleksandra Andriyashina

Our church helps support Oleksandra Andriyashina, also known as Sasha.  Sasha has been a part of Calvary Kyiv since its beginning in the early 90’s.  She has a heart for people outside the church and regularly teaches several groups of children and ladies, both in Kyiv and outlying villages.  She also teaches in the School of Ministry for Calvary Chapel Kyiv and often speaks at childcare conferences.  Sasha recently started a new ministry of live counseling on a Christian radio station where she talks about God’s ways to solve and prevent problems in relationships.  Besides supporting Sasha, we are also helping to support her and CCK’s ministry to two villages outside of Kyiv.

Mission Trips

On our trips to Ukraine we have learned that this country, independent from Russia for less than 20 years, is a ripe harvest field.  Most Ukrainians have not heard the gospel message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  Please watch the slide show below for a brief look at highlights of our March 2010 trip.
