Our History

Faith and Trust

Calvary Chapel Fluvanna began in 2003 with two families meeting in a living room, very unsure of what to do next but certain that God was calling them to help "feed His sheep" in Fluvanna County. The Fedens and the Signorettis had more questions than answers and more fear than confidence, but continued forward in faith that this was the will of God. In fact, one verse particularly fueled their faith and trust in God's direction.
That verse is Mark 6:34.
"And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things."

Teach and Let God Do the Work

Prior to his new role as pastor, Steve Feden was working as a farrier (horseshoer) and also teaching bible studies at a local church. Pastor Frank Signoretti was working at Martha Jefferson Hospital as a registered nurse and was also involved in children's ministry at a local church. Both were greatly impacted by hearing the simple and verse by verse bible teachings of Calvary Chapel pastors from around the country. Steve desired to bring that same simple teaching to the people in Fluvanna County. He saw many people that had fallen away from their faith and fallen away from the fellowship of believers. They had become like lost sheep who had little spiritual connection or direction. The need became clear: Teach them the Word of God and let God do the work in their lives!

Serving Him and Loving Others

The initial "living room" prayer meeting led to a weekly verse-by-verse bible study and eventually to a fellowship as other families joined in. With about 40 in attendance at the Palmyra Elementary School in Palmyra, the Fluvanna Christian Fellowship had materialized.

The fellowship has continued to grow spiritually and numerically. Now officially affiliated with Calvary Chapel, we are Calvary Chapel Fluvanna, or CCF. We are still motivated by the same call: To see people born again in the Lord, grown by the Word and filled with the Spirit. We desire to see every believer glorify God by dying to self, serving Him and loving others.

We continue to trust God for each new day and are thankful for His grace by which we are saved, called and gifted for all we do for Him. CCF truly is God's church and we are the sheep of His flock!
